| These are some of the antlers from the last few years we have found on our hunting grounds many of our bucks that are 1 to 1 1/2 year old are scoring from 110 to 130 and 2 to 2 1/2 year old deer are scoring from 130 to 170 depending on their genetics. In the past our experience was a good 2 1/2 year old buck would score 130 to 140 if it had excellent genetics. That is giving us bucks that are maturing out early at 4 to 5 years old scoring from the 180's clear up over the 260 class buck one of which a whole group of us watched one night right out side our cabin that was easily in that class absolutely amazing sight to see anywhere you are.
This amazing antler growth is attributed to better food sources, milder climates and most of all a mineral program we have been using for 5 years now called Cutting edge from The Whitetail Institute Of North America. It gives them everything they need from the does feeding their bucks in the womb to the old traveling buck happening on to a mineral site. They store what they need and any excess is use for the antlers which give them sticker points more drop tines and what Kansas is already famous for, much more mass, tine and beam length. The body size has also dramatically increased from a mature buck weighing from 245 to 280 up to 300 to 400lbs. In just a few years time.
The clover, extreme, alfarack , and our native winter wheat which covers most of the state, this keeps these monster bucks feed all winter long. We have thousands of acres of corn, milo, and soybeans as well as a new product Power plant which is an awesome combination of different legumes, forages and peas at their disposal all summer and fall which really bring them in close for muzzleloader and early bow season. Our feeders keep the deer grouped up in our areas during the off season and give them the opportunity to chow down on the mineral supplement and let us find more antlers to give everyone an opportunity to see the up coming bucks for next years hunting season.
We manage are own doe heard populations so that only the old mature does are taken that usually bust a hunter and need to be replaced by younger healthier does. We only take up to 15% of our larger bucks so that the ratio of bucks to does never gets under what we see to be about 4 to 1. This way you always have lots of monster bucks to keep doing the breading.
Everything we do together makes for awesome deer hunting and has made us some of the best hunting ground any where the whitetail deer calls home.
